Obituary of Dorothy Irene Blessing

Dorothy “Dot” Irene Blessing of Caldwell, Idaho passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the age of 92. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.

Dot was born to Charles and Irene Mazza on November 6, 1931, in Oakland, California. After graduating from high school, she married the love of her life, Jack Blessing. They married on July 19, 1950, in Reno, Nevada. Together, they had 3 children: Jack Jr., Linda, and Sharon.

Dot moved to Idaho with her husband and family in 1965 to Caldwell, Idaho. Dot had numerous jobs over the years. She loved to work with people and especially enjoyed working at the local nursery. Dot found her calling when she started to work for the Caldwell Senior Center. She worked as a coordinator at the center for 21 years and loved caring for the elderly and building friendships. After retirement, Dot spent her days traveling with her husband and spending time with her family. She had a passion for growing flowers, was an avid gardener, and loved animals. She enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard and adopted a dog, Bodie, who became the 2nd love of her life and lap companion until her final days. Dot was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Jack of 73 years; daughter Linda McIntyre (Dick) and daughter Sharon Tiesen (Bruce); and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dot was preceded in death by her son (Jack Jr.); grandson, (Bryon); and her parents (Charles and Irene).

A grave side service is scheduled on April 4, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Marsing-Homedale Cemetery. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Idaho Home Health and Hospice of Treasure Valley for helping to care for Dot in her final days and compassion and support for the family.
