Obituary of John Wayne Lonkey

John Wayne Lonkey
May 26th 1949- March 5th 2024
John passed away March 5th at his home with his wife Rene by his side.
John was born and raised in Caldwell, Idaho by his parents Wayne and Bonnie Lonkey. Growing up with his sister Judy, they were blessed with the country lifestyle that Caldwell had to offer. He played football and wrestled throughout his school years, meeting and making many life long friends, many he was still in contact with until his death. He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1968. Almost immediately he began a long career in the trucking industry. He Married Connie Green the following year and they had three children, John “Clint”Lonkey, Scott Matthew Lonkey and Brandie (Lonkey) Carr.
He and Connie divorced and soon after he would meet the love of his life, Rene. They would go on to build a lovely life together in Parma, Idaho where they remained until his death.
John has had many interests through out the years to include trapping, hunting, fishing, and breeding Patterdale puppies. But his long standing passion was racing homing pigeons. Nothing seemed to give him more joy.
John was also blessed with seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a handful of nieces and nephews.
John is survived by his wife of 40 years Rene Robinette Lonkey (Parma, ID) sister Judy Varnes (Sparks, NV), daughter Brandie Carr (McCall, ID), Brother-in-law Jim Varnes (Sparks, NV) and Sister-in-law Denise O’Brien (Caldwell, ID).
