Edward Jones

Obituary of Edward Loyd Jones

Edward Loyd Jones was called to heaven on January 6, 2024, at the age of 62 in Marsing, Idaho. He was born July 19, 1961, in Salida, Colorado to Donald and Barbara Jones. In June of 1969 his family moved to Alaska from Cascade, Montana and settled in the Two Rivers community outside Fairbanks. He attended Two Rivers Elementary, North Pole Senior High School and graduated from Fairbanks Alternative High School. After graduation he attended Columbia Basin Job Corps in Moses Lake Washington. Learning several trades, he returned to Fairbanks and worked in construction, building maintenance and many other trades. He enjoyed his time at Pleasant Valley Animal Farm in Two Rivers and loved the horses most but loved living on a farm.

1988 he started calling Valdez, Alaska his home, working to make a living for his family, and to be near his brother-in law Mike and sister Donna. Ed touched every part of their lives from the beginning of time to the end. Edward was truly a brother to Mike, he was the right-hand man that was always there, the one that helped and was a part of all the fun and never-ending projects in Alaska and Idaho.

He truly felt at home on the Alaskan Oceans and Prince William Sound in Valdez. He loved his time on the F/V Bering; a fishing tender. Ed worked the fishing seasons going from one boat to another as he was requested for his expertise and work ethic. Something about being raised in Alaska you learn every facet of life to survive, and he enjoyed doing it.

Ed touched so many people in his short time on this earth, was a great man, friend, co-worker or just someone to talk to. As with anything in his life, he seen what needed to be done and did it and didn't ask for anything in return.

Edward was preceded in death by his beautiful daughter, Samantha Lee Jones, parents Donald and Barbara Jones, brother Bill Jones, Grandparents Art & Edna Dickson, William and Florence Jones, Uncle Sidney Dickson, Uncle John Dickson, Cousin James Humphrey and so many others.

Survived by his sister Donna Waller, his other brother-in-life her husband Michael. Granddaughter Aliya Jones of Fairbanks Alaska, niece Brianna Waller and her children Lilly, Justin & Rylee of Alaska. His nephew Tommy (Amber) Waller, children Niomie, Dorian, Harminnie, of Valdez Alaska. Brother-In-Law Steve (Marilyn) Waller of Tolsona Lake Alaska. Brother-In-Law Scott Waller, his daughter Danielle of Buhl Idaho. Cousins Edward Dickson & Little Eddy of Great Falls Montana, Ern (Merrie) Dickson of Fairbanks Alaska. Aunt Billie Keaster of Great Falls Montana, Cousin Steve (Dinah) Standley, Aunt Mary Dickson of Spirit Lake Idaho, Cousins Katherine, Raymond & Michael. Aunt Joyce (Richard) Hillberry of Clearwater Florida, cousins Brenda & Christina. Many more cousins...

Our heartfelt thanks to Benje & Michelle Graves who was his beacon in the Marsing community via Vision Community Church, and all the many friends that he made along the way there.

Ed may not be with us today, but our hearts are at ease knowing he is finally with Samantha again, having coffee with Mom & Dad and all the family that welcomed him with open arms.

Eddy always said Later, not Goodbye. He said it was never goodbye, but he would see us later. Well Eddy - We will see you Later Dude, Love you to the Moon and Back. Always and forever in our hearts, and we are forever grateful to have had you be a part of our lives.

This spring his ashes will be joining Mom & Dad’s at a special Beaver Dam in Two Rivers, Ak and in Prince William Sound. Condolences may be sent to The Waller’s at P.O. Box 2658, Valdez, Alaska 99686 or emailed to DonnaLWaller@yahoo.com.
