Obituary of Darrell Wayne Brown

Darrell Wayne Brown, 75, of Marsing, ID passed away peacefully at home Saturday January 27th with his wife by his side. There will be a celebration of life for Darrell February 19th at the American Legion Hall/ Community Center Marsing, ID, 128 Old Bruneau Hwy, Marsing ID. Service at 11:30am. Lunch will be provided after the service. Darrell was born in Nampa, ID February 19, 1948, to Ralph and Louise (Wilkins) Brown. Darrell was raised in Marsing, graduated from Marsing High School in 1966. He enlisted in the Air Force his senior year of high school and was off to boot camp in July 1966. He was stationed at Castle Air Force Base in California until July 2nd, 1969. July 3rd, 1969, he was sent to Vietnam for the last year of his enlistment. He returned to the United States on July 2nd, 1970. Later he was Honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1970. He was a member of the Marsing American Legion Post 128 and held several different offices in the Marsing post. He managed and maintained the American Legion/Marsing Community Hall from 2002 to 2019. Darrell married Connie Muston in October 1968 just before going to Vietnam. From that Marriage two children were born daughter Cassandra October 1971 and son Travis September 1974. Darrell and Connie later divorced. In 1981, Darrell met the love of his life Pamela Stevens. They were married Sept. 18th, 1982, in Marsing ID. In 1989, they bought a house a few miles outside of Marsing close to the river. Darrell spent nearly every day walking or riding his 4-wheeler to the river with his gun and dogs by his side. He really enjoyed goose and duck hunting. Darrell went to work for the Idaho Department of Transportation in 1971. He worked at various maintenance sheds through the valley. Darrell transferred to the Marsing shed in 1981. He retired from the Idaho Department of Transportation in June 2004 with 33 years of service. April 2018, Darrell was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure. He started dialysis immediately. March 2019, he had open heart surgery in Seattle at the VA hospital. One month later, he had to fly back to Seattle for a second surgery. Darrell never fully recovered from the heart surgery due to complications. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Louise Brown, his brother David Brown, and Father-In-Law Jack Stevens. Darrell is survived by his wife Pam of 41 yrs., his daughter Cassie (John) Thomas, son Travis (Sarah) Brown, 5 Grandchildren, Charlotte Thomas, Kenzie Brown, Madie Brown, Marlie Brown, and JD Thomas. His Mother-In-Law Rosemary Stevens, Sisters-In-Law Sondra (Joe) Cline and Lesa (Keith) Hinkley and numerous nieces and nephews. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marsing Fire and Ambulance or you favorite charity in Darrell’s name.
