Obituary of Delores Louise Spaulding

Delores was born February 8, 1941 to Henry and Mildred Sweep in Caldwell, Idaho.  She attended school in Homedale all 12 years.  She went to Nursing School in Spokane, Washington where she met and married Gerald Thompson, they had one child, daughter Terri, before divorcing.   In 1966 she met and married her soulmate Ross Spaulding.  They went camping at Hazard Lake for their honeymoon which started their lifetime of fishing, hunting, camping and boating all while hauling kids and friends, grandkids and friends and great grandkids and friends along.  

She worked at Caldwell Medical Group as a transcriptionist and eventually as the office manager for over twenty years.  She then worked for the University of Idaho Caine Veterinary Teaching Center for another 20 years as a secretary and "mom" to all the students who came through often bringing them home for dinner or camping and tricking them into cranking homemade ice cream.  In her 60's and 70's she started fishing in the Women with Bait Steelhead Tournament in Riggins, Idaho.  Twice in the 12 years we fished in it she won 2^nd biggest fish and some wonderful prizes.

She always enjoyed spending time with family and friends whether it be picking huckleberries or playing cards or following the herd of kids around to the various ball games etc.

Delores is survived by her husband Ross, daughter Terri (David) Hogmire and kids. stepson Monty (Sherrie) Spaulding and kids, step daughter Melody (Ray) Bachman and kids.  She had a special relationship with her granddaughter Megan and her kids Grant, Toby and Kenslie as she was the main caregiver for the last several years taking her to doctors apointments, shopping and often just for a drive.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Donald.

Services will be held at Flahiff's Funeral Chapel in Caldwell.  February 9, 2024 at 2 pm
