Obituary of Cheryl S Storms

Sadly, on December 9th, 2023, at 1:45 AM, Cheryl Susan Storms went to be with our Father in heaven.  

Cheryl was born in Wichita, Kansas on August 7th, 1946, to Edith and Halbert Meeker. Cheryl had a brother Halbert (Robyn) Meeker, and a sister Connie (Jerry) Gibson.  

They later moved to California, where she graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1964. She then attended San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton California. Cheryl was on the Presidents Honor Roll, majoring in Liberal Arts, and Special Education. Sometime after that, Cheryl moved to Idaho in 1976, and went to Boise State University, again majoring in Liberal Arts/Special Education. Later going to Treasure Valley Community College, taking computer classes, Lotus, DOS, Word Perfect 1 & 2, in the Nampa/Caldwell area. 

In the 77 years that Cheryl lived, she was so many things to so many people. A mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, a friend, and so much more. 

She married her first husband Douglas N. Finch in 1965, (divorced in 1977). They had 3 children together. Keliegh, Glenn and Douglas Finch. Cheryl’s children gave her 6 grandchildren.  2 from Keliegh (Tony Jenkins), Sara and Suzanna (Colby Durrant) with a great grandchild, Nikaya. From Glenn (Andrea Poppleton-Finch) 4 grandchildren, Austin, Dillon, Camden and Bailey with a great grandchild Jude.  

Cheryl was proceeded in death by her second husband Jimmy D. Storms. They were married in 1981. Jim had 2 children from a previous marriage, Tracy and Stacey Storms. 

In her earlier years Cheryl was outgoing, a little tomboyish and loved being outdoors. One of Cheryl and her husband Jim’s favorite place to go hunting and camping was in Council Idaho. They also liked to go riding 4wheelers in the Owyhee’s with family and friends. Cheryl loved to go on long walks and hiking in the mountains. She also liked being home tending to her garden and rose bushes or just puttering around in the yard. She loved to play games with family, friends and neighbors. Games like 10,000, Ship Captain Crew, RCL, and 3’s away. Cheryl also loved playing cards, Rummy, Canasta, Golf, and Kings corner. But hands down (pun intended) Poker was her all-time favorite. It didn’t matter when or where; she was always ready to take your money and she’d do it with a loving smirk on her face. Going to Firebird raceway to see what the ole 442 could do and car cruises, especially to Jackpot Nevada, she always looked forward to. No matter how tired she was or what kind of mood she was in, she was always ready to gamble. When Cheryl wasn’t working, (or trying to get to Jackpot), she was relaxing at home.  Another hobby she loved, is to read, and even had a couple subscriptions for them. Cheryl loved to bake for any and everyone she could, for any reason. She would bake you a rock-hard buckaroo cake for your birthday or burn some cookies for you just because.  

It was a privilege to know Cheryl, and you were a fortunate person to know her and even more to have her in your life.  

Cheryl is, and always will be very, very missed, and never forgotten.
