David Lester Hoewing, 76, of Caldwell, Idaho, peacefully passed into His rest surrounded by loved ones on December 14, 2023, at his home.

He was born on June 20, 1947, in Bakersfield, California, to Lester and Audra Hoewing. David and his family later relocated to Modesto, California, where he attended the Seventh-day Adventist Elementary school and the Academy in his later years. After graduating from the Academy, he traveled to Keene, Texas, where he attended Southwestern Union College, studying theology and music. There, he met Nydia Chinchurreta, whom he later married on June 22, 1969.

Shortly after getting married, David and Nydia moved to Roseberg, Oregon, where David worked in the logging industry in various capacities. He continued with general studies at Umpqua Community College. During that time, their four sons were born. In 1984, he made a career change and moved to Boise, Idaho, where he worked as a bookkeeper and then administrator in the long-term care facility business. He later became the director of environmental services at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, serving there for 24 years before he retired.

David lived a life guided by deep faith and spirituality, finding solace and strength in his connection to God. His commitment to the Seventh-day Adventist Church was evident, and he later served as the head Elder at the Garnet Seventh-day Adventist Church. David shared his spiritual wisdom and love with his family, friends, and community. He was well-known for giving a nickname to everyone.

David will be remembered for his selfless love, his generosity, and enjoyed hosting gatherings in his park-like lawn. His strong faith made him a pillar of strength to those who loved him. He often found inspiration in communing with God in nature and reading scripture. He treasured spending time with his family, especially his nine grandchildren.
