Obituary of Herbert Cecil Mitchell

Herbert Cecil Mitchell was born in Caldwell, ID, September 26, 1928 to Irene and Lester Mitchell. He was the oldest of six children. His siblings Rose (Sig Strand), Clarence, Charles, Sandra (Elmer Helzer), and Dennis. 

Herb graduated Caldwell High School in 1947. He married Betty Wyman in 1951 and they had three children: Lonnie, Linny, and Connie.

Herb began with the Idaho National Guard in 1951 and rose to the highest rank of Chief Warrant Officer IV over his forty year career. 

Herb and Betty lived in Caldwell until retirement when they moved to a beautiful ranch in McCall, ID. Twenty years later they returned to the Van Slyke area outside Caldwell. 

Herb passed peacefully at their new home in Boise, ID. 

Services will be performed by Flahiff funeral with graveside services on Wednesday 12/20/23 at 1:00pm at Canyon Hill Cemetery. 

He is survived by his wife Betty, children Connie and Lin, grandchildren Chris, Jim, and Teri, and great grandchildren Adina, Elise, Nico, Landon, and Bryce.
