Obituary of Larry Lee Masonholder

  Larry Lee Masonholder, 78, of Caldwell, ID, died peacefully in his home Saturday, October 21, 2023. Larry was born in Gooding, Idaho, to parents Charles and Ella Marie (Bryant) Masonholder and graduated from Gooding High School in 1963. Eager for something new, Larry hopped in his car on graduation night and moved to Boise, where he lived until 1998 when he moved to Sand Hollow (Caldwell, ID). 

  Larry attended Boise Junior College, specializing in Auto Body Repair, and developed a career as owner/operator of Larry’s Auto Body Inc from 1979 until his first retirement in 2003. Following his successful career in auto body, Larry began a second career in farming, while continuing to do auto body repair in his home shop in his spare time.  He and his wife, Carole, grew hay and raised cows and horses until his second retirement in 2012. 

  Satisfying his love of cars and need for speed, Larry raced at Meridian Speedway from 1985-1989, beginning in the street stock class and ending up in super stocks.  He loved working on classic cars and custom hotrods.  His blue 1958 Chevy Impala convertible was his pride and joy, and he spent his last few years building a 1924 Dodge Roadster, a work in progress he left to share with those he left behind. Additional hobbies include vegetable and flower gardening, fishing, boating, and hunting when time allowed.

   In 2022 his wife gifted Larry a Ram Truck.  He visited the car wash a minimum of twice a week.  Larry loved that “ride”. 

  No matter how busy life got, Larry always looked forward to taking his dog with him to 6am coffee with the guys at the Sand Hollow Store.  Davey, Gene, Ken, Michael, Stan, and others, thank you for always being there and for getting him out of the house every morning. It was an important part of his day. 

  Larry is survived by his wife, Carole (Moyle) Bock, daughter Shauna (Masonholder) Miller, son Keith Masonholder (Laura), bonus children Rex Anne Bock (Rangkene Miller) and Marshall Bock, grandchildren Hanna Masonholder, Alexandra Miller, Nicholas Masonholder, Jordan Miller, and Florence Miller, two great-grandchildren, and siblings Gloria (Masonholder)Zisk, Mike Masonholder, and David Masonholder. 

  He was preceded in death by his daughter Kandi (Masonholder) Reed, son-in-law Sean Miller, and grandchildren Amberly Masonholder, Patrick Anderson, and Ryan Miller. 

The family will be holding a celebration of life on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at the Sand Hollow Community Center, 17708 Oasis Rd, Caldwell, ID.  Friends are encouraged to come and share their stories and memories with all.
