Lucas Bicandi

Obituary of Lucas Ysedro Bicandi

Lucas Ysedro Bicandi, age 20, of Middleton, Idaho passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023. Lucas was born on March 30, 2003, to Tom and Alison Bicandi at St Luke's hospital in Meridian, Idaho. Lucas lived his first year in Nampa before moving to a 10-acre property just outside of Middleton that his parents purchased. On that small Middleton farm Lucas grew his love for the outdoors, learning to ride horses and take care of the farm animals including participating in the 4H program where he raised and sold pigs. 5 years after his birth Lucas and his family welcomed Lucas' first sibling Colton Tomas Bicandi (2008), followed 4 years and 4 months later by his second sibling Grace Amaia Bicandi (2012).

Lucas was a very proud big brother who loved his brother and sister with all his heart and loved spending time supporting their athletics, playing card games, board games, hide and seek, snowboarding, wake surfing and his favorite game, foot square. Sports was a huge part of his life growing up and Lucas was a tremendously blessed athlete who excelled in everything he did. Starting at the age of 5 he played basketball, football and baseball every year right up to High School where Lucas was fortunate enough to be pulled up to play varsity baseball his freshman year and was part of the state championship team. He would then be called up to the varsity football squad his sophomore year where he would immediately make an big impact. His physical abilities and relentless drive were only outshined by his off the field work ethic and the love he had for his teammates, coaches and the game.

Lucas was loved by his teachers, coaches and community, he was so loved by his classmates that he was voted both homecoming prince his freshman year and homecoming king his senior year.

Lucas had a great love for the Lord and was baptized in August of 2017. He was involved with both Young life and Wyldlife programs and spent time as a Young life leader where he continued to grow his love for the Lord while helping others to cultivate their own personal relationships with Jesus. Lucas had an unwavering dedication to his family and his friends and was someone who could always be counted on when times were tough. Known to many as a gentle giant, to know Lucas was to love him. His friendship was extended to everyone regardless of their age or social status. The incredible impact he left on so many people was a testament to his character, grace and kindhearted soul.

During the spring of his junior year of high school Lucas and his family would receive the devastating news of his cancer diagnosis; despite this heartbreaking development Lucas never gave up hope. With the aid of his mother's unbreakable dedication and the love and support from his Middleton community, Lucas fought through major surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy sessions all while attending high school when he could. Over Lucas' 3-and-a-half-year battle with cancer he never lost his faith and he continued to push himself to live life to the fullest. In that 3 and half years Lucas learned to play guitar, went skydiving, surfed the waves in Hawaii and San Diego, traveled alone to Spain to spend time with friends and family. He also spent countless days with friends and family at the family cabin in Donnelly, surfing the lake and snowboarding the slopes, and was selected for a very special youth hunt where he harvested a trophy bull elk in Oregon. During his battle with cancer Lucas was briefly healthy enough to complete 1 semester at GCU University in Phoenix, Arizona where he loved being involved with humanitarian work and received honors, making the University Dean's list.

Lucas fought with every ounce he had and wanted to make sure that he set an example for his friends and family that life is a gift worth fighting for. Lucas spent his final days with his friends and family where he was nothing short of brilliant in how he handled himself. No child could ever make a parent prouder than what Lucas did in his final days. At 10:22 pm on Sunday October 29, 2023, with close family in his room, his beloved dog Bailey on his lap, and holding the hands of his parents and siblings Lucas drew his last breath and returned home to bask in the infinite love of his Heavenly Father for eternity. Although cancer took Lucas' life it did not define who he was nor is it how he should be remembered, the true legacy Lucas leaves behind is not how his life was taken but rather how it was lived. His courage, grace, strength and love are engraved in the memories of his friends and family and will live on through them forever.

Lucas is preceded by his grandparents Ysedro Bicandi, Calvin and Bonnie Walker, his 1st cousin Private Mason Price, and his aunt Brenda Walker. He is survived by his parents Tomas and Alison Bicandi, brother Colton Bicandi, sister Grace Bicandi, Grandmother Candice Bicandi, aunts and uncles Jennifer (Kent) Miller, Tony (Christina) Bicandi, Romana (Bryce) Mosekian, Vance Walker, Melanie Walker, Sarah (Tom) Nothnagel and Great aunt Charlene Barlow. He is also survived by many other great aunts, great uncles, cousins and dear, dear friends.
