Obituary of Anne Rose Cragin

V

Anne Rose (Mast) Cragin passed away on Friday evening, October 27 with her daughter, Suzanne, at her side. Her son John and his wife Danette watched over her during her short stay at Copper Springs Memory Center.  She was born on August 18, 1934 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Clayton and Virginia Mast. Raised in Southern California with her brother, Roger.  She married Harold J. Cragin on August 29, 1953 at St. Anthony's parish in Gardena, California; they raised nine children together. Anne was an active member of the Roman Catholic Church and attended Holy Apostles Church in her home town of Meridian, Idaho at the time of her death. She was a member of the Legion of Mary, a volunteer for Jesse Tree and a follower of the Divine Will movement. During her child rearing years, Mom was a Girl Scout leader, principal of the parish religious education program (CCD), a PTA member, and Altar Society member at St. Paul's parish in Nampa, Idaho. She was the Nampa Jaycees Woman of the Year in 1967.  Member of the National Association of Retarded Children, member of the Lady Elks, Anne worked for her husband's business as bookkeeper, registration staff member at Mercy Medical Center, and she retired from General Electric to care for her aging mother.  Anne will be remembered for her love of cats, good food, beautiful crafts, her great compassion and fierce independence.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Virginia Mast, brother Roger and his wife, Marian, and husband Harold.  Survived by all her children: John (Danette), Steven, Margaret (Joe Masarone), Annette (C.J. Birch), Suzanne, Loretta, Theresa (Dan Bell), Jeanne (Kevin Daniels) and Brian (Erin), 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and her six nieces and nephews.

The family extends our thanks to Sherri and the staff of the Copper Springs Memory Care facility, all those who helped Anne at St. Luke's Hospital during her brief stay, and her loving friends Gayle, Eva and her sisters in Christ at Legion of Mary.
