Obituary of Maria L Garza

Maria Luisa Garza was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world peacefully surrounded by her sons and daughter on Monday, May 1, 2023 at the age of 90.

Maria was born August 25, 1932, to Roberto Castillo and Manuela Gaona near San Julian, General Teran, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She married the love of her life, Baltazar Garza in 1947 and together they has six children; Gabriel Guadalupe, Salvador (Rosemary), Rosalinda (Jim), Gabriel, Rolando (Bertha), and Baltazar Jr. (Rachel).

In 1964 the moved to Idaho to settle with their children in Caldwell, Idaho. Here is where Maria worked and retired from Simplot after 26 years. Mom was a woman of prayer and was active in the Catholic Church. She spent years enjoying the Caldwell Senior Center.

Mom enjoyed walking with dad on the Greenbelt and the Canyon Hill Cemetery. Mom’s interests were to work around the yard taking care of her beautiful roses and flowers. She was an amazing cook. Everyone looked forward to their morning breakfast burritos before work, the best rice at barbecues, tamales on Christmas Eve, and menudo on New Year’s morning.

After dad passed, Mom loved going out for her morning walks, and if one of us went with her she was hard to keep up with because she walked so fast. We also cannot forget how much she loved watching her novellas in the evening.

Mom was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that kept her busy. She looked forward to seeing them play their sports. We also remember how her smile radiated with joy when we would see her dancing away with one of her sons or grandsons on the dance floor. We all will surely miss seeing that enormous smile.

Maria is preceded by; her mother, Manuela, father, Roberto, husband, Baltazar, and two sons, Gabriel Guadalupe and Gabriel.

Mom is survived by her four children, Salvador, Rosa, Rolando, and Baltazar Jr, and 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
