Hazel Bittick

Obituary of Hazel Marie Bittick

Hazel Marie Bittick, 84, of Notus, Idaho, joined her husband in heaven on April 9, 2023. Hazel was born January 7, 1939, in Adair, Oklahoma to Roy and Evelyn McLaughlin and was one of six children. In 1947 she and her family moved to Idaho where she grew up in the Caldwell area with many hour spent at the labor camp working in the fields, babysitting children, and going to the local dances. It was one of these dances that she met the love of her life, Thomas (Babe) Bittick and they were married September 21, 1955. To that marriage they added four children; Tanya, Brenda, Tommy, and Roy (Ed).

Hazel could tell stories of the shenanigans Babe, Tuft, Alice, and herself got into when they were younger that would leave you rolling on the floor. Through the years, the family enjoyed numerous camping, hunting, and fishing adventures with other family and friends with everyone always having a wonderful time.

Hazel worked for many years as a waitress in Caldwell at Mr. V’s, The Elks Lodge, and the See-N-I where she enjoyed joking with all of her customers. After 30 years, she retired and spent time with her grandchildren and eventually, great-grandchildren, watching them play sports, going out to lunch, shopping, going for a drive, helping her find her car in the parking lot because she was sure someone had moved it making them laugh as she made a funny face and spit her teeth out. Along with her children and spouses, they all held an incredibly special spot in her heart. During the last few years, she looked forward to the regular adventures exploring the countryside with her granddaughters.

She knew not a stranger and was always the life of any party or events that she attended. Her love for people is what drove her back to work at Idaho Nut Hut selling cinnamon roasted nuts and genuinely enjoyed every minute talking and joking and getting hugs from everyone that stopped by.

Hazel was a devoted wife, mother, sister-in-law, aunt, grandma, great-grandma, friend and so much more. She had a heart of gold and big shoes that will never be filled. She will be missed dearly by all that had the opportunity to know her.

Hazel is survived by a brother-in-law, Tuft Bittick, her daughter Brenda (Ed) Christopher, Tom (Deb) Bittick, Ed (Donna) Bittick, grandkids; Heather, Heidi, Michael, Rachel, Tasha, Chase, Mackenzie, Jacob, and 25 great-grandkids and multiple nieces and nephews.

Hazel is proceeded in death by her husband of almost 51 years, Babe, daughter Tanya, her mother, her father, three brothers, two sisters, sister-in-law, Alice, and multiple other brother and sister-in-laws, and her beloved Jack Russel Terrier, Jack.
