Norma Jacks

Obituary of Norma Jean Jacks

Norma Jean Jacks, 78, went to be with Heavenly Father on March 13, 2023 at Canyon West nursing facility in Caldwell, of natural causes.

She was born on January 15, 1945 to Howard V.; Hawker and Lois Norma Beck. She attended school in Letha, ID, graduating from Emmett High School in 1957 after a year and a half of having rheumatic fever. During her high school years she was a cheer leader.

She married Archie Leroy Jacks on Jan. 15, 1966 in Letha, ID at the LDS church. While residing in Horseshoe Bend, ID they adopted four Native American children. In 1978 they moved to Alaska and lived there for about a year, then moved to Parma, ID in 1979. After losing the love of her life, Archie in 1991, she continued living in Parma until she went to live in assisted living due to Alzheimers.

Her favorite job out of all her careers was working at the Parma School District as a lunch lady. Most people knew her as “grandma”. Nothing made her happier than working with the kids. She had also worked at Micron, Walmart and the sugar factory during campaign.

She enjoyed many things, liked reading the scriptures, teaching 4-H with two of her very close friends, Eva Jo Miller and Reva Martinson (Mahaffey), watching football every season, especially the Boise State Broncos and spending time with one of her best friends, Anita Bake. But nothing compared to watching her grandkids play sports. She never missed their basketball and softball games and tennis matches. She was their biggest fan. Norm was also very active in the LDS Church. She had many callings and loved serving the Lord.

Survivors include 3 children; Lanonie Sandoval (Loyd Mosley), Nanette Jacks, Joe and Tanya Jacks; 2 grandchildren Clinton Jacks and Janessa Suarez, and one great grandson Talan Ford; a brother Bill Hawker (Bonita) two sisters Wilma Hatch (Larry) and Rose Eckhart (Ron) and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Archie Leroy Jacks, a wonderful daughter Joni Sue Jacks and a granddaughter Jordan Jean Jacks, her parents Howard and Lois Hawker and a brother Doyle Hawker, two brother-in-laws Larry Hatch and Ron Eckhart.
