Obituary of Robert Gene Ekin

Beloved husband and father, Robert (Bob) Gene Ekin, age 76 of Marsing, Idaho, passed away on March 8th, 2023. Born to Robert Andrew Ekin and Zoe Marie Sholl. Bob served in the U.S. Navy as an Engineman for 12 years and served his family his entire life. He is survived by his dear wife and eternal companion of 27 years, Patsy Ekin and helped raise four of her children: Coby Nelson, Porter Nelson, Lydia Lawson and Devin Nelson. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked as an electrician, refrigeration and boat mechanic on Kodiak Island. Bob was known for his work ethic and his tireless acts of service for both his loved ones and anyone else who was in need. Rarely did he let a day go by when he wasn’t fixing or building something. He worked with his hands and loved carving and making native art. He loved working with horses and being outdoors. He would go outside and watch and observe the wildlife. He loved being close to nature. A memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 215 South Third Avenue West, Marsing, Idaho 83639 at 9:00-11:30 and at 11:30 he will be taken to the Idaho Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 10100 N Horseshoe Bend Rd, Boise, ID 83714 where funeral services will commence at 1:00pm. After the funeral there will be a get-together to commemorate Bob at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Marsing at 5:00pm where food will be provided.
