Tina Pennington

Obituary of Tina Pennington

Justina “Tina” Ann (Gray) Pennington, 66, of Notus, Idaho passed away peacefully February 3rd while surrounded by family. Tina fought a bold and courageous battle against cancer.

Tina was born to Mr. and Mrs. Athol B. Gray on August 13th, 1956, at Pike County Hospital in Louisiana, Missouri. Shortly after, her family moved to McCall, Idaho. She attended grades 1-12 in the McCall Public School system where she enjoyed participating on the baseball, track, cheerleading, and dance teams. Two of her favorite classes were art and home economics.

Tina met her husband John in 1974, and they were married two years later June 27th, 1976. John and Tina were married for 46 years and built their life together in Notus where they had two sons, Howard and Joseph.

Tina had many jobs and titles throughout her life, but none were more important than wife, mother, and grandma. Growing up, she enjoyed babysitting and waiting tables at the Yacht Club. Later, she developed a passion for healthcare working in the McCall nursing home, private care, and hospice. She also took great pride in being the librarian at the Notus Public Library where she volunteered her time for several years, followed by working for Black Canyon Irrigation District.

Some of Tina’s favorite things to do were picking morel mushrooms, fishing on the Little Salmon River, and attending her sons’ sporting events. She loved to make various arts and crafts, including her unique and one-of-a-kind birdhouses. Her most prized hobbies were taking care of John and her boys, and spoiling the grandkids.

Tina was known to her friends and family as a “go getter” never letting any grass grow under her feet. Her everlasting energy and infectious personality made everybody smile. She will be truly missed.

Tina is preceded in death by her father Athol Gray, mother Dorothy Curley, brothers Dan and Justin Gray, and sister Janice Norfleet. She is survived by her husband John Pennington, sons Howard (Amanda) Pennington and Joseph (Lisa) Pennington, grandsons Grayson, Theodore, Colton, Oliver and Barrett Pennington, brothers Joe (Marge) Gray, Ira (Lucy) Gray and Ed (Danielle) Gray, sister Sheilah Searle, sister-in-law Mary Gray, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on February 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell, Idaho. A meal will be provided by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints immediately following services. All are welcome to come celebrate Tina and spend time together as friends and family.
