Obituary of Erin Lynnea Batie

Erin Batie of Caldwell, Idaho, passed peacefully at her home surrounded by the love of her family on September 21, 2022.  Erin was born December 20th, 1974, in Caldwell, ID to Dennis and Linda Batie.  She was the oldest of three daughters and grew up in a household filled with lots of love, laughter, outdoor activities, and pets.  She graduated from Notus High School and Black Hills State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in social work.

Erin quickly discovered that working indoors was not her passion and spent over a decade of wonderful years working outside at Far West Nursery in Boise ID.  She loved the hard physical labor of the work and valued her strength, the unique plants she acquired, and her work family.  When needed, she also worked for UPS during their busy seasons. She was never afraid of hard work or getting dirty and loved confetti, glitter, and anything sparkly.

Erin packed plenty of life into her forty-seven years. She was vibrant, full of life and loved jumping in the Payette River, performing acrobatics on aerial silks, and creating beauty with flowers and plants.  She backpacked through Europe, visited Puerto Rico, vacationed in Mexico, climbed the Grand Tetons, and even worked at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Erin lived across America in Missouri, South Dakota, Utah, and California, but her home was wherever her family was.  Erin was an amazing aunt and treasured her nieces and nephew. Her heart was enormous and she valued the truly important things in life. People and relationships were front and center and she always had a smile and a kind or witty remark for everyone and every situation. The world was and always will be a better place because of her.

Erin had an irreverent humor and unique view of the world that left an impression on everyone she met.   She was strong and stubborn and fought cancer with all that she had until the very end.  Her determination and positive outlook were an inspiration to all.

She is survived by her parents, Dennis and Linda Batie; her sisters, Jenna (Rob) Lerma and Lindsay (Brad) Pfannmuller; her nieces Rose Lerma and Lily Blank, and nephew AJ Blank; aunts and uncles, Roger Harritt, Phil & Jan Harritt, Shane & DiAnn Bengoechea, and several cousins.

Erin’s family would like to especially thank Horizon Hospice, St. Al’s Caldwell Cancer Center, and friends and co-workers who never stopped reaching out.  Thanks also to Aunt Jan who supported Erin with her nursing skills and compassionate care, her friend Rick, Brad, her sisters, nieces, and nephew who spent countless hours giving her the gift of time and telling her how much they loved her.

In lieu of flowers, please consider remembering Erin with a gift to help fight cancer at https://donate.saintalphonsus.org/regional-breast-care-support.
