Obituary of Milton Dennett

Born 11 June 1954 in Parma, Idaho.

Died 18 June 2022 in Parma, Idaho.

Dad was born in Parma to Myla Hunsaker Dennett and David Lawrence Dennett. Grandpa David's work took them to Indio, California where Dad spent his elementary years filling pillow cases and bathtubs with garter snakes, catching badgers in sleeping bags, and many other things. All with his brothers of course. Grandpa's work brought the family back to Caldwell for Milt's Middle and High-school where he spent his time under bridges and in old barns catching pigeons to raise, along side his oriental pheasants and the occasional ghost. 

After serving a mission in Pennsylvania, he met his wife Michelle when the missionaries asked him to speak at her baptism. He promptly asked her out and after the ice water incident and the book return incident they were married in the Provo, Utah Temple in 1979. 

Dad was, a scholar, a story teller, a thespian, an explorer, a teacher, a lover of nature, and one of the kindest and most loving people you have ever met.  

Dad spent 40 years at Intermountain Gas company and loved it; almost exclusively because of the people he worked with. He especially loved his time as a trainer. That is a good reflection of his personality, he loved people. He would often say to us, "It is better to be kind than right." He loved helping people so much, we as a family, often wondered if he had the ability to say, "No."

Dad loved a good story and most days during his down time, you would find him reading either to him self or to his children/grandchildren. One of our fondest memories as kids were our epic bed time stories, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, Fable Haven, and Percy Jackson only to name a few. And of corse he read us the scriptures. 

He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. It showed in the way he treated people. He loved sharing the things he found buried in the scriptures. His favorite calling in church was gospel doctrine teacher. He spent many years of his life serving as a teacher of various sorts. He knew his Savior better than most and wanted all those he loved to have the joy and love that comes with that knowledge. The only two thing I can ever remember him asking of us was one that we stay strong in the gospel. The other was he needed more pictures of our family.

Family was very important to Dad. Spending time with us, involving us in his projects. He intentionally planned activities that would build good memories that we could keep for the rest of our lives. These things were important to him. 

Dad is survived by his his beautiful wife, 3 brothers, 4 of his 5 children, and soon to be 14 grandchildren, who he dearly loved and who are excited to see him again in the afterlife.
