Eliza Garcia

Obituary of Eliza Garcia

It is with deep sadness we share that we lost our beautiful Mother to Leukemia. She was diagnosed this year on January 31 and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 11. Mom did not battle with illness alone, we fought it with her. There was no doubt in our minds Apa was waiting for her.

Eliza was born April 17, 1929, in Edinburg, Texas to Adelmira and Alfredo Solis. In the mid 1940’s she was shopping with her mom and came across a handsome young man selling oranges, they became friends. Eventually they married and were blessed with nine children. They moved to Idaho and made their home in Caldwell. Through the years they made lots of friends and owned a few rentals in the 1970’s -1980’s.

She was an active member of the Catholic Church for more than sixty years. Her favorite soap opera was As the World Turns 1956-2010. She was very friendly, hardworking, generous, and loving to all family and many friends. Anyone was welcome in her home.

She worked for years at Nampa’s Carnation Potato Plant and retired from Caldwell’s J.R. Simplot Plant after eighteen years of employment. In her retirement years she enjoyed gardening, yard sales, and walking the greenbelt up until the age of 85. She loved sitting outside her home visiting with family and friends, watching the cars go by on her busy street. Her favorite part of the year was flying to Texas, sadly her final trip was in April 2021.

She was a petite beautiful lady who had a big smile and heart. She had a sharp mind for a 92-year-old. She would always jokingly say she was 21 followed by a cute laugh. Despite losing five family members tragically including our father in 2003, her first born as a small child, her son in 1981, and two grandchildren in 2003 and 2014; she dedicated her life to her family and was always very loving and supportive.

She will be missed deeply by many family members and friends. A special thanks to Annette and Chris from Tio Joel.

Eliza was preceded in death by her parents, sister Louisa, our father Isidoro, sons Lupito and Xavier, grandchildren Sylvia and Jaime. She is survived by siblings Marina, Esperanza, Anita and Alfredo of Pharr, Texas; her four sons and three daughters; Juan (Hortencia) and their children Chris, Johnny, Gracie, and Evett; Jose (Aida) and their children Leticia, Jose Jr., Daniel, and Deyanira; Guadalupe and daughter Romelia; Margarita Ramirez and her children Elizabeth, Ismael, and Noe; Marta DeLuna and her children Raul, Rene, Ruben, and Michael; Joel (Silvia) and their children Joel Jr., Abel, Nate, and Selena; Norma Linda (Roger) Pesina and their children Leroy and Annette, whom mom raised as her own child; Ann Marie, Melissa, and Amanda Garcia. She also had many great grandchildren, as well as great great grandchildren.

Ama and Apa are finally together again. We will miss you very, very much. No me digas adios, pero hasta la aproxima!

The family is requiring masks to be worn to the services for the safety and well being of all those attending the services.
