Obituary of Nicholas Kaley Ihli

Nicholas Ihli, 92, formerly of Murphy, died peacefully at his home in Nampa, Saturday, January 15, 2022. Nick was born January 6, 1930 to Minnie Barnes Ihli and Nick Ihli in Caldwell, ID. He married Dolores Birmingham at St. Hubert’s Catholic church in Homedale, September 29, 1951. They had three children, Patrick, Teresa, and Gerri.

Nick worked as Owyhee County Clerk for 17 years, and later opened the Ihli Title Company with Dolores in Murphy, which they operated until they retired. Nick and Dolores were true to their roots in Owyhee County. They enjoyed years of recreation at their cabin in Silver City, greeting and treating friends on the porch with a drink, snowmobiling, fishing and hunting, and joining historical tours of the county with the Historical Society group.  They were Boise State Bronco fans, holding season tickets for some time. Nick was busy socially to the very end. Weekly, he played poker, pinochle, bingo, and still made trips to murphy for book club and to Oreana for church.

He is survived by sisters, Florine Rodich, MaryAnn Haines, Jean Ihli, Jane (Bob) Merrick, and brother Mike (Linda), sister-in-law Dorothy Ihli, Delores Birmingham, and Barbara Brown (Joe Amos). He is also survived by his three children, Pat (Jan) Ihli, Teresa (Eric) Mayes, and Gerri (Burke) Black, four grandchildren: Jennifer (Will) Montgomery, Brandon Ihli, Lindsay (Kenyon) Nowotny, and Katie McAuley, and two great-granddaughters, Hailey and Emma, along with numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Nick was preceded in death by Dolores, his wife of 64 years, brothers Chuck and Jim, brothers-in-law Sam Rodich, Jack Haines, Dick Birmingham and Ken Brown.
