Obituary of Sylvia Salinas

Sylvia Salinas, 68, of Greenleaf, Idaho, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on November 28, 2021. Sylvia was born in McAllen, Texas on November 25, 1953 to Asencion and Fransisca Salinas.

Sylvia worked for the Community Council of Idaho for over 15 years doing what she loved best, being a cook.

Sylvia loved playing loteria and paco with friends and family. She was well known for her kindhearted spirit. She was always making sure everyone was well fed. She always had fresh tortillas and refried beans for her taco beans and who can forget her famous pork chops con chile.

She very much looked forward to her biannual trips on the fun bus to Winnemucca with her “homies” Emma Pantoja and Lucy Ramirez.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents Asencion and Fransisca Salinas, her siblings, Jose V. Salinas, Juan V. Salinas, Estela Fleming, and Rosalinda Salinas.

She is survived by her children Alfredo Jr (Irene) Valdez, Gustavo (Michelle) Valdez, Robert (Julie) Sanchez, Valeria Valdez and bonus daughter Gabby (Aaron) Stropkai.

Her beloved grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart, Desiree, Greg, Mia, Simon, Myleah, Eli, Jaime, Laz, Annalee, Cruz, Xavier, Jesse Jaymz, Joseph, Hollee, Hayden and Maddox. And one great granddaughter Keihlanni Cardenas.

She leaves behind three siblings Virginia (Fernando) Madrigal, Asencion Salinas Jr. (Gloria), Lala Mata (Richard). And numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that she loved with all her heart.

Family was everything to mom. “Mi Gran Señora” you will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A viewing for friends and family will be held on Friday December 10, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell. Rosary recital will begin at 7:00pm.
