Obituary of Lanny Clayne Berg

  Lanny Clayne Berg was born in Chester, Montana on July 2, 1941 to Lyle Emorie Berg and Cleo Bernice Belstead. He had two brothers Craig and Harley and four sisters Andrea, Cheryl, Paulette, Laurel and one sister Sheila deceased.

  Lanny married Katherine Jean Hale on October12, 1960 in Circle, Montana and they have three children: Lanny Dee, Deidra and Loren.  They moved to Junction City, OR in Sept 1968 and they had an International Harvester dealership with father and brother and in 1976 moved to Albany, OR and they opened an AMC, Jeep, Dodge dealership and later a Chevrolet dealership in Florence, OR. When Lanny turned 40, he sold the Dodge Jeep store and retired to a used car lot with his son Lanny Dee until Chevrolet called him up and said they had a store for him in Caldwell, Idaho – so off the family went!

  Lanny loved the friendliness of the people in Idaho; saying, it reminded him of Montana. Caldwell was very good to us as a family and business. He sold the store in 2001 and retired to his son LD’s used car lot and traveled to NASCAR races and visited family.  Lanny loved the car business, his family, his pugs and Montana.  He never knew a stranger and was always there to help anyone.  He was a life-long Lutheran and successful businessman.

  Lanny passed away in the arms of his family on November 21, 2021 at St Al’s hospital in Boise.  His family would like to thank them for helping us be together when Lanny left us.

  He leaves behind his wife of 61 years; children Lanny Dee (Sarah), Deidra (Jay) Schriver, Loren (Lisa); grandchildren Matthew (Marjan), Jessika (Chris) Vorderstrasse, Jacob Berg, Michelle Berg, Lauren Schriver, Dillon Schriver, Taylor Martin, and Ashleigh (Adam) Cressman; great-grandchildren Kallie Jo Berg, Christopher and Lincoln Vorderstrasse, Noah, McKenzeigh Reimes, Mace Cressman with twin girls coming; siblings Harley (Gloria) Berg, Craig Berg, Laurel Lightner, Paulette (Larry) Moore, Cheryl Williams, Andrea Percell, Billy (Cathy) Hale, Patti (Chris) Wood.  He was preceded in death by his sister, parents, and grandparents.

  A viewing for friends and family will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 5-8 pm at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church in Caldwell.  Interment will take place later in Montana.
