Obituary of Sylvia L. Nelson

Mournfully, on Monday, September 27, 2021, Sylvia L. Nelson reunited with her heavenly father, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 22, 1960 to Lavell and Hazel Burgess in Glendale, California.  She married the love of her life, Douglas Nelson, on September 8, 1978 in the Idaho Falls Temple. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Edna and Marilyn (Sue); her father, Lavell and mother, Hazel; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her husband, Douglas; her daughter and son-in-law, James and Misty Harris; her sons, Daniel Nelson and David Nelson; and her daughter and son-in-law, Brian and Whitney Thornley; as well as her ten grandchildren.

A funeral service for Sylvia will be held on Tuesday, October 12^th at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Owyhee Ward Building, 848 Owyhee Avenue in Nyssa, Oregon, with graveside services to follow at Parma Cemetery.

Sylvia was always known to be a loving mother, aunt, and grandmother. She loved camping, fishing, home gardening, canning, and was a great lover of dogs. She was a great mother who would put the needs of others in front of her own. We will miss her amazing dinners, her phone calls, her hugs, her warm energy, and most of all we will miss her.
