Obituary of Martin V. Gonzalez
Martin V. Gonzalez, 79, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at home with his family by his side.
Martin was born on November 11, 1941 in Tonaya, Jalisco, Mexico to Luis Gonzalez and Maria Del Refugio Velasquez.
When Martin was six, his family migrated to McAllen, Texas to work for the railroad company. They then later migrated to Homedale, Idaho for other job opportunities.
Martin was a jack of all trades – he was a laborer, BLM firefighter, welder, truck driver, and he last worked for the Amalgamated Sugar Company for 30 years, where he later retired.
Martin’s passion was playing pool. He was considered a local legend to many. He stayed active at his local pool club, and participated in local tournaments.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Maria Del Refugio Gonzalez; his siblings: Hermelinda Gonzalez, Delfina Diaz, Rueva Elizondo, and Luis Gonzalez Jr.
He is survived by his sister, Susana Gonzalez; his four children: Hermelinda Aguilar, Martin Gonzalez Jr., Sylvia Cisneros, and Esmerelda Elias; grandchildren: Jose Aguilar Jr., Alejandro Aguilar, Rafael Aguilar, Diego Aguilar, Marisol Curtis, Juan Andres Cisneros, Isabella Cisneros, Liliana Cisneros, Gabriella Elias, Isabell Elias, and Estevan Elias; great grandchildren: Liliana Aguilar, Miguel Aguilar, and Jason Curtis.
Dad will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. Till we meet again, Dad, and save us a seat in heaven.
We would like to thank St. Luke’s Hospice team: Kylie, Amanda, Ian, and Iris. Your team was amazing and treated our father with the utmost respect, and were there every step of the way. I can’t thank your team enough.
A viewing will take place on Thursday, September 2nd from 5-8:00 p.m., with a rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd. in Caldwell. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 1122 W. Linden Street in Caldwell.
