Obituary of Lalo Zamora

Abelardo “Lalo” Reyes Zamora, was called to the gates of heaven on Wednesday April 21, 2021. Lalo was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, on June 26, 1935, to Herminia and Jose Zamora and was raised in a Catholic household. He was a well-known storyteller. Anyone who had the pleasure of speaking to him enjoyed hearing his profound historical knowledge. He worded stories in a way that made you feel like you were there living it.

He began working at an incredibly young age in the agriculture industry, traveling to many states and working with different crops. Lalo was also an advocate for Hispanic families and farm workers. He was always willing to lend out a helping hand to you, even if he had just met you.

Our Pop was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great and great-great grandfather. He devoted his life so his family can stay healthy and be united. He did everything he could to make sure his loved ones were taken care of.

He adored being outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and went fishing every day if mom would let him. Leslie’s Gulch was the last place he fished with his son Mando where he caught his final bass. He liked camping, hunting with his son Jr, or doing anything that involved his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed playing Spider Solitaire on his computer, reading the newspaper while drinking a cup of coffee, or fixing things around the house.

Our dad had the patience many aim to have. He had the biggest smile that brought us so much joy to see. He never failed to cheer us up with one of his daily jokes. He gave us everything we ever wanted but showed us how to work hard to accomplish things on our own. He showed us how to live our truth and stand up for ourselves. We will miss you pop, but we will continue to make you proud and take care of our families just like you wanted.

Lalo is preceded in death by his parents, Herminia and Jose Zamora, brothers, Israel Zamora, Gabriel Zamora, sister Mercedes Marques, and grandson Robert Zamora. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lupita, sister Flora Garza, and brother Amel Zamora, uncle Fernando Reyes, 3 daughters, Brenda (Chris) Shafer, Vanessa Zamora, Jessica (Derek) Zamora, 6 sons, Joe Zamora, Armando (Denise) Zamora, Abelardo Jr. Zamora, Francisco Zamora, Carlos Zamora, Enrique (Dora) Zamora, and Sergio Zamora. Grandchildren: Elisa, Crystal, Cynthia, Jojo, Cecilia, Kristian, Michael, Nathan, Emily, Kassandra, JenyAnn, Pearl, Ashley, Elena, Denise, Joseph, Darius, Daniel, Cyle, Abelardo, Zakai, Zaimah. Great-grandchildren Mikayla, Dominic, Sebastian, Viviana, Li, Isaiah, Lia, Zaniyah, Jenabreeza, Rosalina, Analisa, Victoria, Liliana, Juliana, great-great grandchildren Hudson and Camila, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Lalo’s visitation services will be on Wednesday April 28th between 5-8pm, with a rosary recital at 7pm, at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Homedale, ID. Thursday April 29th, a memorial service will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Caldwell, ID at 10am, with graveside services following at Wilder Cemetery around 11:30am.

We look forward to crossing paths with anyone that met our dad and hearing any jokes or stories he shared with you. We love you Pop.
