Krena DeGeus

Obituary of Krena May DeGeus

Krena May (Fowke) DeGeus, 87, of Wilder, died peacefully Sunday, March 28, 2021.  Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Wilder Cemetery.  Her parents, Oral and Eleanora Fowke were blessed with their fifth child, Krena, on November 12, 1933 in Goodells, Michigan.  Krena was introduced to the love of her life, Charles DeGeus, by her brother Bill while they were on a weekend leave from the service.  After a nine-month long-distance courtship, Krena was invited to come visit and meet Charlie’s family in Idaho.  She accepted the invitation and during that visit she and Charlie got married and started their life together as husband and wife on May 20, 1952.  They spent 54 wonderful years together but to her a lifetime spent with him wouldn’t have been enough.  They cherished the many years they had together and lived them to the fullest.

When not working on the farm they spent their time fishing, camping, and traveling.  Together they had three children, a daughter Faith and two sons Fred and Clarence.  The family spent their time together working and enjoying all that life had to offer at CK Farms.  Krena loved her family fiercely, without judgement, and with the biggest heart anyone has ever had.  Her home was always the gathering place for family celebrations which she welcomed with open arms and would not have had any other way.  Krena had a way of making people feel special and cared for and was always sure to include everyone.  She was the best wife, mom, and grandma anyone could ever hope to have.  She loved working on the family farm picking and selling fruit, tending to her garden, and keeping the most beautiful flowers you have ever seen.  There wasn’t a flower that she didn’t know the name of and she could tell you the precise way to take care of it.  She always took the time to teach a “life lesson” or give advice to those she loved.  She always had the best cookies and never failed to show up with a treat when visiting and was never too busy to play a board game at night, always letting the kids win.  She was the true definition of strength and persevered through every obstacle sent her way in life.  We were so lucky and blessed to have had the time we had with her and she will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.

Krena is survived by her daughter Faith Olsen, her sister Irene Liebler, sister-in-law Alice Fowke, 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her sons Fred and Clarence, her son-in-law Gary Olsen, her parents Oral and Eleanora Fowke, and her siblings Adolph Fowke, Bill Fowke, Ernest Fowke, and Janet Lorf.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you plant your favorite flower in memory of Krena and live your life to the fullest, making every day count.
