Obituary of Glenda Kae Gammett

Glenda Kae Gammett, 74, of Jordan Valley, Oregon, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020, due to complications of pancreatic cancer.

Glenda was born in Boise, Idaho, on September 10, 1946, the third of four children born to Katherine “Kitty” (Axford) and Glenn Salmeier. She was raised on the family homestead in Marsing, Idaho. Glenda began her schooling at the Edison School just outside of Marsing, later graduating from Marsing High School in 1964.

Glenda married her high school sweetheart, Ted Gammett, in April of 1965. Ted was a saddle bronc rider, and they traveled the rodeo circuit in their early years of marriage. They lived in California for a time, while attending Heald’s Business College, before returning to Idaho and welcoming two sons. After spending several years in Givens Springs, Ted and Glenda settled in at their ranch in Jordan Valley (Rockville).

In addition to ranching, raising her sons, and running the house, Glenda worked in the office at Marsing High School for many years. She enjoyed working with the kids and said it helped break up the long winters on the ranch. She was also an accomplished siphon tube setter, once winning a contest at the Owyhee County Fair.

Glenda will be missed by her sons, Will (Brett) Gammett and Winston Gammett; granddaughters: Tina Marie, Jill Lee, and Lacey Jo; siblings: Milo (Patt) Salmeier, Donna (Doug) Steel, and Tricia (Roy) Richardson; sister-in-law, Tina (Larry) Lemmon; and her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Kitty Salmeier; husband, Ted; and grandson, Jeremy.

The family offers special thanks for the gentle and patient loving care given to Glenda by the staff at the Nampa Saint Alphonsus Cancer Care Center.

Glenda’s graveside service will be held Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at Jordan Valley Cemetery in Jordan Valley, Oregon. All attendees are encouraged to wear face coverings.
