Mary Holste

Obituary of Mary Lynn Holste

Mary Lynn Holste, 67, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away on December 12, 2020 in Caldwell, Idaho.

Mary was born on January 28, 1953 in Nyssa, Oregon to Bernard Rex Tropf and Rose Marie (Thode) Tropf.

Mary Lynn went to school in Wilder and then moved to Caldwell where she went to Caldwell High and met and married Randy Herbert Holste. They were married on August 22, 1970. They had their first born son, Douglas James and then moved to Portland, Oregon where they had their youngest son, Travis John. Mary and Randy divorced in 1983, and Mary returned to Caldwell to be near her family, and to raise her children. She loved her sons dearly, and devoted her life to them.

Mary worked for Air Comfort as a secretary until her retirement 10 years ago. She retired early due to health problems. Mary had a passion for family and friends. Her door was always open.

She enjoyed camping, or just enjoying a beautiful creek bed, and watching the birds and animals in the mountains. Just about anything, that had to do with nature. She loved doing yard work and growing beautiful indoor plants.

Mary spent many years making beautiful scrapbooks to leave behind a lifetime of memories for all of her loved ones. These albums showed not only her patience, but also the love she felt for her family and friends.

Her father, Bernie, preceded Mary Lynn in death.

She is survived by her mother, Rose Marie, of Caldwell; sons, Doug and Travis, of Caldwell; brother, Gary (Wanda), of Nampa; sister, Karen, of Caldwell; former husband, Randy, of Caldwell, whom she remained friends with; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. I believe that hard work pays off. I believe in God, and that Jesus died for our sins. I believe in treating others the way you want to be treated. I believe family first. I believe in never giving up and working things out through the end. I believe scrapbooking and chocolate can be very therapeutic. I believe that animals have feelings. I believe in keeping a clean house. I believe that good friends that last a lifetime are hard to come by. I believe a good mood can be contagious. I believe in preserving memories for future generations. AND MOST OF ALL, I BELEVE IN LOVE.” Mary Holste
