Obituary of Michael Gardiner

Michael Ray (Mick) Gardiners courageous battle with cancer ended July 12, 2020.  Mike passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.

Mike was born December 13, 1953, in Caldwell Idaho to Ervin and Rose Gardiner.  Mike was the middle child of five.  He had fond memories of his time on the family farm and spoke often of the good times he had growing up.

Mike attended Pleasant Ridge and Dixie Elementary schools, then Vallivue and Shoshone High Schools.  After high school Mike served in the Air National Guard.   

He married Diane Hilton and together they had a son, Mick.  They later divorced.  Mike married Cheryl Lemrick in Elko, NV. on August 4, 1979.  Cheryl’s two children Trisha and Travis became Mikes own and together they had a daughter Lauri Rose.

Mike held many jobs in his younger years.  In 1979 he took a Job with the JR Simplot Co. as a contract loader and moved the family to Hammett Idaho, where he continued working for them throughout his working years.  He formed many close bonds with the people he worked with over the years and will be remembered as a hard worker and a kind and giving man.

 He spent his retirement years in Kuna Idaho.  This was such a special time in his life as he had the time to spend with his grandchildren, whom he adored.  

He was a good father who always took care of his children and did the best he could to teach and guide them, a loving husband, father , grandfather, and a friend to many.  Mike was a strong, proud, and good man.  He is loved and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Cheryl; his children Trisha Asher (Ken), Travis Gardiner, Lauri Allen (Jared), Mick Paynter.  His brother Steve Gardiner, his sister Becky Ward, several cousins, and his grandchildren Megan, Dakota, Austyn, Shelby, Blake, Alex, Allison, Hailey, and Kylee.  And great grandsons Drayden and Ty.

He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sister Patti and his brother Stan.

The family would like to thank the staff at MSTI and Horizon Hospice for their caring support.

Cremation is under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell.

A celebration of life will be held Aug 2^nd, 2020 at 11:30 at the residence of Lauri Allen, 7980 Chisum Way, Meridian ID.
