Obituary of Celia McKeever

Celia M. McKeever, 83, of Middleton, died Saturday, May 2, 2020 at her home.

Celia Mallard McKeever was born in Houston, Texas, on November 9, 1936, to Luther Wilson Mallard Sr. and Maggie Kathrine Carson. When she was three years old, the family moved to Idaho. Her father, Luke, worked in construction, for which the family traveled around the West. Celia attended schools in Boise and Meridian, and in Arizona. After graduation, she attended the University of Houston in Texas. Celia was an accomplished artist, creating freehand drawings. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang in various choirs throughout her life.

Celia met Frank L. McKeever from Perryopolis, Pennsylvania, while he was serving in the Air Force stationed at the base in Mountain Home. They married in Meridian, Idaho, on August 31, 1956. In 1957, the young couple gave birth to their only child, Kathy. After Frank's discharge, they traveled to Alaska for several months before moving to Pennsylvania. Together they built their own home in the woods of the beautiful Virgin Run area. Celia had a long career with the U.S. Postal Service where she worked as a letter carrier. She enjoyed the work and the people.

Celia was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ and served in many church callings over the years. Together, Celia and Frank taught seminary in Pennsylvania.  In 1976, they moved back to Idaho. They loved serving in the Boise temple and felt the importance of that work.

Celia was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers: Luther W. Mallard, Jr. and David N. Mallard. Celia is survived by her daughter, Kathy McKeever; grandchildren: Leah Kisner Cahoon (Nate), Andrea McKeever, Melanie McKeever, and Josh McKeever; and nine great grandchildren.
