I was at the Lowry one summer with Ted and Pat when they had the old Model A. They decided that I should drive is out up the hills-so here I am a city girl probably about 13 and they start the car--it had no floor board so i am watching the road go by--dirt--and we get off the road and are going through the hills. As I try to grad the steering wheel to steer it is not totally attached and comes way up as I am trying to lean back. The brakes were not great but Ted and Pat thought it was just great fun. I did not try and drive anything with them again. Carol Greenwald, daughter of Mary Maher and Gordon Greenwald. I am sorry for your loss. .

Dear Polly, Rena and Jack, your spouses and children,
I am very sorry for the loss of your father. May he rest in peace, and may God give you peace in your loss. Losing a parent is never easy.
I did not know your dad well. I only saw him a few times when the family gathered usually for a wedding or a funeral. I remember the morning after Joe and Joyce's wedding we all went to the restaurant for breakfast. When I went to pay, the cashier told me Ted Payne had paid for everyone! That's the way he was, quietly generous, not making a show of it, just quietly doing something kind. I remember Rod was so impressed with Ted's vehicles and remarked that he had a notebook on each one telling what he'd done to it. Ted and Rod both knew horses. Rod was also happy when Ted told him we had good looking horses.Ted was a smart man. When he and your mom came to Angela and Coy's wedding, Ted had not seen Rod or me in years, but came right up and visited with us as if we'd seen him yesterday. He was always friendly to us.
God bless and comfort you all.
Love,
Aunt MaryBarb McKay
