Obituary of Manuel Castilleja
Manuel Nava Castilleja, 76 of Doctor Arroyo, Nuevo León. Died Saturday, January 25, 2020. Manuel was born in Mexico and raised in Texas where he met the love of his life his wife Dolores of over 55 years. They married in Lubbock Texas and later moved to Idaho where they lived the rest of their married life. Manuel lived a great life constantly surrounded by his family. He worked for many years at JR Simplot and Amalgamated Sugar. Always sharing stories of his work as a construction worker for Idaho Migrant Councils self-help program where he built many homes on Canyon Hill. He spent many years driving his semi-trucks for different farmers ultimately becoming his own boss. Manuel enjoyed driving truck, but nothing compared to his many years of service to The Bureau of Land Management until retiring with Lava River Forestry. Manuel has many hobbies he enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved gardening. He was a man of many interests but the one thing we all remember of Manuel is his giving heart and kindness. He was always lending a helping hand. He shared many stories with everyone he came across in particular the story of the best Father’s Day gift any man could ask for – a kidney. Manuel was a kidney transplant recipient and considered himself very blessed to have a second chance at life. He was very proud of how a new organ could make you feel youthful again. Thank you to the medical team at Swedish Medical in Seattle and his doctors of many years Dr. John Freeman and Dr Chris Keller. Manuel admired your care. He lived his life to the fullest for those who knew him. Manuel is survived by his wife Dolores, his mother Petra Nava Flores, his son Manuel (Teresa) Castilleja, daughters Patricia (Benjamin) Fierro, Korene Gonzalez and Veronica (José) Villalpando. His brothers and sister, nieces nephews and grandkids and great-grandkids.
