Obituary of Miguel E. Ponce

  Miguel E. Ponce, 55 of Caldwell, died Friday, August 30, 2019 at home.  He was born on September 29, 1963 in Tamaulipas, Mexico to Tomas and Evangelina Ponce.  He moved from Texas to Idaho in 1971.  Miguel grew up in Sunnyslope, and attended West Canyon, Vallivue Jr. High and Vallivue High School.  He was involved in cross country and track and field and was cross country captain his junior and senior year.  He deeply admired his coach and mentor Gary Ward. After graduating in 1982, he went to the University of Idaho for 2 years and was very proud that he got to be Equipment Manager for U of I.

    He married his wife Marisela in 1994. He was very loving and enjoyed spending time with his grandbabies; he was a loving, supportive, kind dad.  He loved all sports and running, movies, music and especially the Dallas Cowboys and Idaho Vandals and Van Halen.  He loved both of his jobs at Walmart and Heartland.  He took a lot of pride in keeping his yard looking great.

  He is survived by his wife, Marisela; four children Nolan (Sadeja), Melissa (Marco), Samantha (Jared), Amaya; three grandchildren; his mother Evangelina; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

  A viewing for friends and family will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 5-8pm at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell. A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 10:00am at Caldwell Salvation Army Corps. Interment will follow at Canyon Hill Cemetery.
