Carlos Lopez

Obituary of Carlos Lopez

Carlos Lopez, of Caldwell left this earth on April 29, 2019 surrounded by family. He left to tend to the garden of his dreams without physical limitations. He was most proud of his tomatoes and strawberries, his unwavering courage, and his family.

He was born in Zamora, Michoacán Mexico on February 10, 1943 to Salvador and Maximina Lopez.  He left school in 3rd grade for the family fields.  On December 2, 1963 he married the love of his life, Lucia. He then immigrated to the US to work the racehorse tracks of New York, and Florida; the fields and vineyards of California; and the orchards of Idaho where he settled with his family. He was  proud of his many jobs but his favorite were the fields where he felt free.

Although of humble means, he always helped the hungry, the needy, and the lonely.  He never hesitated to help his family and never shied away from the broken.

Carlos is survived by his wife Lucia, their children Luz, Alberto, Andrea (Jose), Maricela (Eleuterio), Anabel, Rosa (Patricio), Blanca (Tom), Martha (Jose), Carlos Jr., and Elizabeth; 25 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers and 3 sisters; many nieces and nephews; and Lola, Libby, Louie, and Luka the dogs.

Carlos was not keen on dogs but they loved him and over his lifetime he shared his home with six.

He will be remembered for his timeless sense of fashion; for his hardworking demeanor; for his love of gardening, roses, music, and company; and for his uncanny way of giving without expectation.

He was cool, he was brave, and he was strong.  He was warrior unlike any other, either be like him or try to be like him. “Porque, el que quiere...puede.” He will always be “El Rey”.
