Obituary of John Elbert Waite

  John “Grumpy” Elbert Waite, Sr.  87, of Homedale, Idaho, passed away on July 3, 2019, of natural causes in the comfort of his home with family around.

   An intimate graveside will be held on Saturday July 13, 2019 at the Homedale Marsing Cemetery for family, time to be determined. A celebration of life and the reunion of John and Marilyn for all eternity with love, laughter, and new memories created following the graveside. John and Marilyn leave behind a legacy of love and devotion for family and commitment to each other to withstand the times.  “Please don’t cry for me, for I have returned to the love of my life where I am meant to be.”

   John was born in San Fernando, California on September 7, 1931 to Mary Rose Giardina and John Merlin Bunker of Las Vegas, Nevada but raised by his mother Mary Rose Giardina and step-father Leland William Waite of Bunkerville, Nevada whom he took on the name and has forever been known as John Waite, Sr.

   John and Marilyn were married in the St. George, Utah LDS temple for time and eternity on November 16, 1949; They were married for 69 years on earth and will remain devoted for all eternity.

  John was known for his work in construction, wood-working, gardening, his love for fishing and John and Marilyn’s spontaneous scenic drives with hands held.

   John is survived by 5 children: Nylee Raney married to Frank Raney of Nampa, Idaho; Marsha Salisbury married to Jim Salisbury of Homedale, Idaho; Debra Gossard of Washington; Karen Staley married to Jim Staley of Ancorach, Alaska, and John Waite II married to Margret “Lu” Waite of Kimberly, Idaho; a sister Rosemary Labato married to Jim Labato of Dewey, Utah; a brother Herbert Lee Waite of Denver, Colorado; and 118 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and many friends and family.

   John was proceeded in death by his wife Marilyn Waite, his daughter Ruth Holsinger, a grandchild Darrell Raney, son of Nylee and Frank Raney, and his parents, and numerous other family and friends.
