Norma Eyton

Obituary of Norma June Eyton

Norma June Eyton of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on June 19,
2019, of natural causes.
Norma was born on September 26th, 1942, in Norwich, Norfolk, England, to Lilian May
(Woodhouse) Northfield and Leonard Earnest Northfield. As a little girl, she helped her parents
in their confectionary store selling candy. After graduating from the English equivalent of high
school at age 15, she went to work in the footwear industry.
On April 21, 1959, Norma married Airman 2nd Class Tommy Lawrence Eyton in Norwich.
Following the birth of their first child, the family relocated to Sculthorpe. After the birth of their
second child, Tommy was transferred back to the United States. While living in Dover,
Delaware, Norma studied for and earned her U.S. citizenship on September 1, 1966.
The family moved multiple times over the next 20 years of their service in the U.S. Air Force.
Two more children joined the family and Norma was often the sole parent shaping, teaching and
guiding their futures while also working to augment the family finances, usually preparing food
for school lunches so that her schedule matched those of her children.
Following the family’s retirement from the service, Norma continued to work in the food service
industry and was highly respected by her peers both for her prep and management skills. Her
bubbly personality, quick wit and overall cheerful nature endeared her to coworkers, friends and
family.
Norma truly loved to travel, although absolutely not in an airplane. They made many trips to the
Oregon coast, in part because it reminded her of her life in England.
She also had a passion for dogs and raised many beautiful litters of pups from a variety of
different breeds including labs, pointers, wire-haired fox terriers and Airedales. Norma also
owned many other breeds that she also loved.
Norma is survived by her husband, Tommy Lawrence Eyton; five children, Steven T. (Leslie)
Eyton, Tommy Lee Eyton, Sr., Judy (George) Fekete, Susan (Jeff) Nelson, and Jonathan (Jenn)
Eyton; 14 grandchildren, Steven C. (Stacy) Eyton, Kyle (Jayne) Fekete, Michael George,
Jackson (Rosa) Eyton, Kevin Fekete, Courtney (Bryan) Morris, David (Renee) George, Tommy
Lee Eyton, Jr., Kristina Eyton, Jake Nelson, Dillon Nelson, Hunter Eyton, Connor Eyton and
Brenna Eyton; 12 great-grandchildren; and last, but definitely not least, her beloved dogs Bella
and Bessie.
