Obituary of David Richard Downum

  David (Dave) Richard Downum passed away at the age of 51, on April 16, 2019. He was born on June 16, 1967 to Richard (Dick) and Sarah Downum, in Nampa, ID. Dick later remarried his current wife Roxie in 1975, they then moved to Homedale, ID the following year to raise Dave and his brother John. Dave attended school in the Homedale School District until he graduated in 1986. While attending Homedale High School, Dave met his high school sweetheart, Callie Packer. They were married in July of 1994 and in November of 1998, welcomed their only child, Hannah Michele.

  For the last 27 years, Dave had worked at Owyhee Publishing as a pressman, he also took great pride in being a city councilman for the City of Homedale for several years. Dave’s proudest achievement was his daughter, Hannah. Anyone who knew Dave knows how much he loved his daughter and that he loved to brag about how proud he was of her, as well as all of her accomplishments, she was his pride and joy in life. In recent years, Dave was excited about helping put in the first disc golf course in Homedale, which he also occasionally held classes for. His latest hobby was flying drones and taking pictures/videos of the City of Homedale, mainly along the Snake River. One of the pictures that Dave had taken, was recently featured on the cover of Idaho Magazine.

  He is survived by his daughter Hannah Downum, his parents Dick and Roxie Downum, his brother John and his wife Jennifer, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24th, at the Mtn View Church of the Nazarene, located at 26515 Ustick Rd, in Wilder, ID.  There is a viewing open to the public from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Funeral services are under the directions of Flahiff Funeral Chapel. His daughter, Hannah, is requesting that everyone that attends the funeral to please wear forest green, if possible, as it was Dave’s favorite color.
