Blaine Overman

Obituary of Blaine Overman

On Wednesday, December 26, 2018, Wesley Blaine Overman, loving husband and father of four, passed away at age 93.

Born to Wes and Alta (Gray) Overman on August 8, 1925 in Mitchell County, Kansas. He came to Caldwell with his family when he was 12 years old.

When Blaine was in High school, he joined the Army and fought in WWII as a Paratrooper. “He said that if he was going to war, he didn’t want to walk.” After getting out of the service, he worked on the original construction of the JR Simplot Co. He then went to work at the Richardson Feedlot for 20 years where he became the foreman. Blaine bought a farm north of Caldwell in 1964 where he raised numerous crops with the help of his family. If farming wasn’t enough he drove truck for the Simplot Transportation until his retirement in 1990. Although he retired from trucking, he never retired from farming. He found enjoyment in fishing, traveling to Alaska numerous times to fish for “reds” on the Kenia with family and good friend, Loren Freeman. Blaine also enjoyed going to town to have coffee with his neighbors and friends.

Blaine is preceded in death by his parents, Wes and Alta Overman and one brother, Dean Overman.

He is survived by his wife, Suanne, of 68 years, four children: Kathy Braun (John), Julie Ptacek (John), Jeff Overman (Krista), Linda Overman and five grandchildren: Kimberly Ptacek, Scott Ptacek, Heston Overman, Hayley Overman, and Hunter Overman, a brother Hal Overman, (Phyllis Turco) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to thank Peggy Maxwell for her exceptional care and compassion she gave our dad in his final days.

At his request there wont he a funeral service but a celebration of life later in the Spring.
