Obituary of Bonnie L. Job

Bonnie Lou (Bishop) Job, 72, of Caldwell Idaho, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Friday, December 28, 2018, after a long and hard-fought battle with diabetes, cancer, and ALS.

Bonnie was born on June 9, 1946, in Ontario, Oregon, to Cyrus W. and Alys E. Bishop.  She was raised on a ranch on Succor Creek in Oregon.  Her parents moved to the Caldwell area in 1959 where they continued to ranch and farm.  Bonnie graduated from the first class of Vallivue High School in 1964.  She attended Boise Junior College for dental assisting.  Bonnie met her future husband, Don Job, while attending Boise Junior College.  They married on December 1, 1965.  They had two daughters, Cyndi and Karma, and initially raised the family in Boise where Bonnie cooked for the Meridian School District.  In 1977, Bonnie and Don moved their family to a summer ranch near McCall.  Bonnie worked as a dietitian at the Payette Care Center.  She was actively involved in leading Girl Scouts troops and 4-H clubs, assisting with projects for many years.  In 1988, Bonnie and Don became the owners of Heartland Deli on the corner in downtown McCall.  They owned the business for 14 years before retiring and RVing throughout the U.S.  After their RVing adventures, they settled in Yakima, Washington, for six years before returning to the Caldwell area in 2012 to be near family.

Bonnie was an avid cook and baker from a young age, and honed her skills growing up on the ranch.  This made an easy transition to owning her own restaurant and deli.  She never followed a recipe, which continues to frustrate her daughters to no end.  Bonnie loved to garden and go antiquing with her friend, Carlene.  She also enjoyed camping and traveling.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Don Dee Job; two daughters, Cyndi (Neil) Troxel of Parma, Idaho, and Karma Job of Alexandria, Virginia; a brother, Wayne Bishop of Caldwell, Idaho; and two grandsons, Justin and Matthew Troxel.

The family will receive family and friends on Friday, January 11, 2019 from noon - 2pm at Kirkpatrick Memorial Community Church – Anderson Hall on East Bates Ave, Parma, Idaho.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or the ALS Association.
