Obituary of Ruth Elouise Root

  Ruth Elouise Settle, born February 8, 1921 in Greenleaf, Idaho, the fifth child of John Thomas Settle (Tom) and Lela Maud Settle, passed away in Mill Creek, Washington on November 21, 2018.

  On Saturday, December 1st, we will lay our mother, Ruth Elouise Settle Root, to rest at the Greenleaf Cemetery in Greenleaf, Idaho. Services will be at 3:00 PM.

  Ruth married our father, Robert W. Root, Sr., on October 22, 1943 in Caldwell, Idaho.

  She was preceded in death by our father on June 9, 1983, by her parents, Tom and Lela (Woodruff) Settle and her four sisters: Marie Howard, Elaine Cronk, Anne Moore, Janet Steiger, and brother Howard Settle.  She is survived by: daughter Elouise J. Root, son William H. Root (Mary), son Robert W. Root, Jr. (Marcie), daughter Evelyn G. Root.  Grandchildren: Leslie Baker (Doug), Kerri Root (Jason), Michael Root, and Megan Root. Great-grandchildren: Elin Wall, Soren Wall, David Baker and Daniel Baker.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.  Ruth was the last of her siblings to pass away.

  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ruth to Rafiki Foundation (www.rafikifoundation.org) “Rafiki” means friend in Swahili and depicts the purpose of the Foundation—to befriend orphans and widows in their distress (James 1:27).
