Obituary of Ronald John Glaubitz

Ronald John Glaubitz now walks the Streets of Gold with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He passed in the evening of September 19th, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Boise ID…two days after his 72nd birthday.

Ron was born September 17th, 1946 in San Bernadino, CA to Lester Eldon Glaubitz and Fairy Jean Crisp Glaubitz.  Ron’s pre-school years were spent in John Day OR, after which the family moved to CA. Ron graduated from Lawndale High School in CA in 1964 and went to work for Douglas Aircraft as a draftsman.  He was then recruited by Hughes Aircraft, during which time he developed a love for construction.  During his tenure at Hughes Aircraft, Ron was pursued by the US Army, and left his job with Hughes in 1966 to answer the call of duty and proudly serve his country.  He was trained in the Army Security Agency and spent time in South Korea providing intelligence data on North Korea.  He also served a 16-month tour of duty in the Vietnam War where he survived two helicopter crashes and saw many of his fellow comrades fall.

After his four years in the Army, Ron continued to develop his skills as a master carpenter, eventually owning and operating his own business in Las Vegas for many years.  After divorcing his second wife, Ron moved to GA, where he quickly became a true Southern Gentleman.  Ron worked as a construction superintendent traveling the country building retail stores, and in late 1999 met Juanita in Wilmington NC and married her in May of 2001.

Ron had the uncanny ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and immediately put them at ease.  He believed in brightening the day of others, including strangers, and always looked for name tags of anyone waiting on him. He’d call them by name, ask how their day was going, and notoriously end each conversation with “Don’t let the grouches get you…they’re out there!”.   Even his doctors lit up during Ron’s appointments, as he was always jovial, and was very good at making fun puns of words which affectionately became known as “Ron-isms”.

Ron actively attended Oregon Trail Church of God since his move to Idaho in 2005, where he said he finally felt ‘at home’ in a church.  His faith developed, and he served as a board member for several years.  Ron loved to travel, particularly road trips, and had visited 49 of the 50 states.  He also loved food, except for chocolate, and often said that he’d “eat anything as long as it didn’t eat him first”.  Ron also developed a love for craft beer and participated in a weekly Bible Study called Bible and a Brew, held at a local brewery in Nampa.

Ron is survived by his wife of 17 years (together 18 years, married 17 years) Juanita Glaubitz; two children, Brent Evans of Creech AFB Las Vegas NV and Alana Ashby of Middleton ID, as well as his  brother Kade Glaubitz of Solana Beach CA; sister Beverly Lambert of Ojai CA; sister Marcia Cox of St Helens OR; stepsisters Stephanie Meseraull of Torrance CA and Theresa Culver of Eureka CA; and four grandchildren, Titan Walker, Logann Walker, Adisan Walker and Presley Walker.

Many thanks to the doctors, nurses, and specialty care teams of the Boise VA who provided incredible care, compassion and love to Ron during his several day stay in ICU.

Services will be held at Oregon Trail Church of God in Caldwell ID on Saturday September 29th at 2:00 p.m.  Refreshments follow, with an opportunity to celebrate Ron’s life through sharing of your favorite memories of Ron, who was truly loved, truly amazing and truly unique, and will truly be missed my so many!
