Obituary of Ricardo V. Zamora

On September 18, 2018, Ricardo V. Zamora found peace and became free of his pain while at home surrounded by his family.  He now joins those who preceded him in death, which include his parents, Manuel Zamora, Sr. & Maria Albesa Zamora; and siblings Roberto Zamora, Ramiro Zamora, Odelia Quezada, and Maria Albesa Zamora.

Ricardo met his love, Louisa Gonzales, in February 1966 when her family migrated to Idaho.  Although born and raised about 50 miles away from each other in Texas, the two met nearly 2,000 miles away from their homes while working in the hop fields of southwest Idaho.  On June 20, 1966, they married and spent the last 52 years in the Wilder, Idaho area.

Ricardo is survived by his five children, Joe F. and Cris Zamora, Roxanne and Gilbert Basaldua, Elsa Zamora, Richard J. Zamora, and Alex Zamora; his three grandsons, Isaac Zamora, Adam Zamora, and Alonzo Zamora; three granddaughters, Priscilla Higuera, Gudalupe Basaldua, and Fe Basaldua; two great grandsons, Cain Zamora and Grayson Higuera; a great granddaughter, Jayda Basaldua; one sister, Irene DeRose; three brothers, Manual Zamora, Jr., Felipe Zamora, and Romero Zamora; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ricardo worked hard to support his family, spending most of his life working in agriculture and long-haul truck driving.  In his youth, he loved playing baseball, softball, and sharing the story of where he found his baseball mitt.  He eventually picked up the game of golf and spent much of his time on the greens.  In addition, Ricardo had various catchphrases he picked up, and the one that always got a laugh from his family was, “Homey don’t do that.”

Ricardo’s family wants to express gratitude to the many caregivers that supported him through the recent years, including the Encompass Hospice staff, Karcher Estates caregivers, Dr. Keller and the Liberty Dialysis team, Dr. Alessi, Dr. Allen, Dr. Box, and his medical transportation driver Joe.  With the support of many, Ricardo lived, and ultimately died, on his terms.

Viewing and rosary will be held at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 5 pm – 8 pm, and funeral mass will be at Our Lady of the Valley in Caldwell on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 10 am, directly followed by interment at the Wilder Cemetery.  Additionally, family and friends are invited to celebrate Ricardo’s life at Our Lady of the Valley following the cemetery proceedings.
