Obituary of Carl Eugene Cassity

Carl Eugene Cassity of Caldwell, Idaho passed away August 25, 2018 in Caldwell, Idaho.  Carl was born to Cecil and Lois Cassity on November 20, 1935 on his grandparent’s farm near Browning, Missouri.  Carl married Betty Lincoln on June 1, 1958.  They moved to Brookfield, Missouri and while in Missouri, a son Donald gene and a daughter Debra Ann were born.  In April 1961, they moved to Homedale, Idaho and later to Greenleaf, Idaho.  A daughter Linda Kay and a son Lorne Alan were born in Idaho.  They lived in Greenleaf for 45 years.

  Carl attended school at Enterprise Browning, Missouri; Rothville, Missouri; and Mendon, Missouri.

  Carl worked for the Missouri State Highway, Tex Poppino, Black Canyon Feed Company, Kit Manufacturing Company, Milton Trost, Gene Smith, Wetern Stockman’s and Ida-Best which became Land O Lakes and Cenex.  Driving the truck he especially enjoyed; he retired in 1995.

  Carl learned early how to work hard on the farm, milking cow, driving the work horses in the field and herding turkeys.  They had to have their morning chores completed before going to school and evening chores finished before going to bed.

  Carl joined the Amy on May 19, 1955.  Carl was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood Army Base in Arkansas, Aberdeen Maryland, Fort Lewis, Washington and near Seoul, Korea.  Carl was transferred to the DMZ with the 7^th Division, 32^nd Infantry; he was involved with the cleanup duty after the Korean War.  Carl was discharged with an Honorable Discharge from the active Army and Reserve Service on April 30, 1963.

  Carl looked forward to traveling to Missouri to see his family; reliving his childhood whenever he returned to Missouri.  Carl was able to spend many hours with his own family while camping and fishing over the years.  Carl was pleased that he was a part of his grandchildren’s time of learning from Grandpa about fishing. He was particularly happy to also take his mother and sister Karen camping on one of their visits.  Over the years he became an Idahoan at heart.

  Carl was a member of the Homedale Baptist Church for many years.  He filled the positions of a Sunday School Teacher, Song Leader, as a Deacon and Trustee.  He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior while stationed in Korea.

  Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Lois Cassity, his daughter Linda and his bother Clide.  Carl was survived by his wife Betty, son Don (Tami) of Greenleaf, ID; daughter Debra (Norman) of Greenleaf, ID and son Lorne (Kathy) of Greenleaf, ID and son-in-law Steve of Meridian, ID.  Carl is survived by four granddaughters and five grandsons.  Carl is also survived by six great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons.  Carl is survived by his brother Charles (Charlene) of Rayville, MO and sisters, Carol of Brimingham, AL; Karen (Mike) of St. Peters, MO.  Carl is survived by many nieces and nephews and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews and his Aunt June of Fort Myers, FL.

  Carl’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Autumn Wind, Ashley Manor and Canyon West for the kind and loving care that was given during his stay.  His family wants to especially thank Heart n Home Hospice in Caldwell, Idaho for the support and care given to Carl.  Thank you to the Heart n Home office; RNs Brenda, Shay, Patti, Linda; social worker Carrie; Chaplin Amelia, nurse aids Valerie, Lydia and all the ladies that came. 

  Services for Carl will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell.
