Obituary of Merrill Wyatt Green

  Merrill Wyatt Green passed away in his home on July 19, 2018 at the age of 98. He was born in Wellsville, UT on October 16,1919 to Merrill Leishman and Eva Wyatt Green, the second of four children. Merrill served in the Army during WW2 in Alaska and Europe from 1940-45. He married NorRene Bowen Darley in the Logan LDS Temple April 26, 1946. In 1950 they moved their young family to Middleton as part of the Veterans Homestead Act. They cleared sagebrush to develop a fertile dairy farm. He retired in 1991. Merrill was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the family was part of the first LDS congregation in the Black Canyon area. Merrill was called to serve in the bishopric of the first Middleton Ward formed in 1955. He served in many leadership positions and he and his wife served in the Boise LDS Temple from 1991-2004. He loved time spent with his family and enjoying the outdoors.

  Merrill and NorRene are the parents of six children, Kathryn (Gordon) Hodges, Melanie (Alan) Mills, Merrilyn (Michael) Jefferies, Kenneth (Connie) Green, Loralee (Derek) Johnson, Kevin (Carol) Green, 25 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. Merrill is survived by his wife, NorRene, and a brother, Fred Green of Brigham City, UT. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brett Hodges, granddaughter, Anne Jefferies and daughter-in-law, Connie Green.

  Funeral services will be held Friday, July 27 at 11:00 am, in the Middleton LDS chapel at 309 W Main St, Middleton. Viewing will be prior from 9:30 to 10:45. Interment will follow the funeral at the Middleton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the General Missionary Fund or Primary Children’s Hospital.
