Obituary of Judy Ann McAbee

Judith Ann Wise McAbee died June 23, 2017, at her home in Homedale, Idaho, from ongoing health issues. She was born in Indio, California, on June 5, 1939 to Homer and Leona Wise and grew up in nearby Palm Springs where she graduated from Palm Spring High School. Some of her earliest jobs included working at the old Village Theater and the newly built City National Bank. After marrying, she lived in various parts of southern and northern California, eventually ending up in Homedale, Idaho, where she lived for over forty years. Most of her career was spent working in bookkeeping and accounting for various banks and firms. She enjoyed camping and other outdoor activities and loved to laugh. It was said by many that she never met a stranger. A sign in her home saying “strays welcome here” aptly described her soft heart for animals and she was known to feed the feral cats living around her property as well as her own pets. She was a member of the Mountain View Church of the Nazarene in nearby Wilder, Idaho. Judy is survived by her mother, Leona Wise, of Rancho Mirage, California; her sons Nathan “Happy” Stroud (Diana) of Gurdon, Arkansas and Michael Stroud (Kim) of San Diego, California, and her daughter Christine Dixon (Tim) of Roy, Utah. She was preceded in death by her father Homer Wise in 1984, her sister Janice Guenther in 1982 and her oldest son, Robert “Bobby” Stroud in 2005. She leaves behind her sisters Jeanie Eskew (Duane) of Goodyear, Arizona, Carol Duranceau of Dallas, Oregon, Cathy Mathews (Geoff) of Thousand Palms, California, Tina Graham (Chet) of Dallas, Oregon, Mary Lisa Currie (Phil) of Salem, Oregon, and Shannon Cahill (Sean) of Mountain Center, California, along with many grandkids, great-grandkids and nieces and nephews. No local services are planned but a celebration of life will be held in Palm Springs, California, at a later date. Service Information
